Remember When Call of Duty First Came to PS2?

Man, I still remember the buzz when I first heard Call of Duty was coming to PS2. I was reading PSM2 magazine and it said it’d be out that October.

I was hyped because the PC version was supposed to be incredible. I told everyone to save their money for it.

Looking back, it’s crazy how that series started on PS2 and eventually became the massive franchise it is today with Modern Warfare and Warzone. Who else was excited back then?

You were saying it rocks but hadn’t even played it? Classic.

I remember calling you out on that. But hey, we all got hyped for games back then.

I was a PC guy through and through, so I wasn’t sold on the PS2 version. Turns out, the console port was decent for its time, but nothing beat mouse and keyboard.

Still, it’s wild to see how Call of Duty exploded later. Who would’ve thought it’d become the king of FPS?

I was one of those guys who said console shooters were inferior. I remember saying COD on PS2 would be ‘gay’—yeah, I cringe at that language now.

But back then, PC was just better for shooters. The accuracy, the controls, the online multiplayer…

consoles couldn’t compete. Of course, times have changed.

Now console shooters are huge, and Call of Duty is basically a cultural phenomenon. Funny how things evolve.

I was all about PC multiplayer. I remember saying it was easier to control and you could play online.

Console online was still in its infancy then. But Call of Duty on PC had some great multiplayer maps and mods.

I spent hours on that game. It was short, yeah, but the replay value was there.

Now, the series is mostly known for its online modes. Crazy how it started with such a short campaign.

I finished Call of Duty on PC in two days. It was good but way too short.

I compared it to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which felt longer and more epic. But Infinity Ward focused on quality over quantity, and those missions were intense.

The British missions were a bit slow, though. I still wonder how much longer MoH was.

Anyone know? Either way, both games laid the groundwork for modern shooters.

I remember the wait for the PS2 version. Some people said they had pirated copies, but I waited for the official release.

It was worth it. The game was a blast on console, even if it wasn’t as precise as PC.

And yeah, PC players had to wait even longer for their version. Funny how things are reversed now—console players often get games first.

Call of Duty has come a long way since those early days.
