I’ve always enjoyed games where you have to think before you act, but I didn’t realize there were so many amazing strategy games still being played in 2026. After looking around, I found a bunch of titles that seem really fun, so I thought I’d share them here in case anyone else is searching for something new.
Age of Empires IV
This one is all about building your civilization, gathering resources, training armies, and defeating your enemies. It’s easy to learn but can take a long time to master.
Civilization VII
Instead of fighting one battle, you’re building an entire civilization through history. Every decision matters, from science and diplomacy to military expansion.
Tempest Rising
If you miss classic RTS games like Command & Conquer, this one feels like a modern version with great graphics and exciting battles.
Broken Arrow
This game focuses on modern military warfare with tanks, helicopters, aircraft, and realistic battle tactics. It looks incredible.
StarCraft II
Even after all these years, people still play it competitively. It’s incredibly fast-paced and one of the toughest strategy games to master.
Company of Heroes 3
Instead of huge armies, this game focuses on controlling smaller groups of soldiers and making smart tactical decisions during battles.
Crusader Kings III
This surprised me because you’re not just commanding armies—you manage kingdoms, royal families, diplomacy, marriages, alliances, and politics.
Stellaris
Imagine running your own space empire, discovering alien civilizations, researching new technology, and exploring the galaxy.
Northgard
A Viking-themed strategy game where you expand your settlement while surviving harsh winters and competing against rival clans.
Anno 1800
This one is more about building cities, managing trade routes, and creating a powerful economy than fighting battles.

I honestly didn’t expect strategy games to be this diverse. Some are about building empires, others are focused on realistic warfare, and some let you rule entire galaxies. There seems to be something for everyone, whether you enjoy fast online battles or slower games that reward careful planning.
Have you played any of these? Which strategy game would you recommend to someone just getting into the genre?
You get to set up your own team, there are rankings to climb, and it’s all about fighting your way to the top. The team building aspect is really deep – you can customize your lineup and try different combos.
I’ve been playing for a while and the competition is fierce. If you’re into strategy games, give it a shot. Hope you have fun and maybe I’ll see you there!
