Building a Remote Creative Team: Let's Collaborate on Web Projects!

Hey everyone! I’m looking to put together a solid remote team for web projects. The goal is to collaborate on client work and maybe build some of our own tools. I’m thinking we need a mix of:

  • Graphic Designers (UI/UX, branding)
  • Software Developers (front-end, back-end, full-stack)
  • Marketers (SEO, social media, client outreach)
  • Web Developers (specializing in modern frameworks)

How I See It Working

We’ll use GitHub for version control, Slack for daily communication, and Trello or Notion for project management. I can set up a staging environment on Xisto’s free hosting so we can demo work live. Everyone gets a share of the project revenue based on contribution.

Right now, I handle PHP & MySQL backend work, but I’m also diving into Node.js and Python. We need a database analyst to design schemas, then we split tasks and set deadlines together. Marketers would find clients, quote projects, and pass them to us.

If you’re interested, drop a note with your skills and experience. Let’s build something great!

:open_book: Topic Overview (Wikipedia):

A virtual team usually refers to a group of individuals who work together from different geographic locations and rely on communication technology such as email, instant messaging, and video or voice conferencing services in order to collaborate. The term can also refer to groups or teams that work together asynchronously or across organizational levels. Powell, Piccoli and Ives (2004) define virtual teams as “groups of geographically, organizationally and/or time dispersed workers brought together by information and telecommunication technologies to accomplish one or more organizational tasks.” As documented by Gibson (2020), virtual teams grew in importance and number during 2000-2020, particularly in light of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic which forced many workers to collaborate remotely with each other as they worked from home. — Read more on Wikipedia

This sounds interesting, but I have a few practical questions:

  1. Is this for-profit? Are we splitting earnings from real clients, or is this hobby-based?
  2. Age/experience requirements? I’ve been doing design for 5+ years, but are there any minimums?
  3. What’s the commitment? How many hours per week would you expect?
  4. Legal side? Would we sign any agreements about IP or payments?

I’m good with Adobe XD, Figma, and Photoshop. I can also handle basic front-end (HTML/CSS). Let me know the details before I fully jump in.

Count me in for the marketing side! I specialize in SEO, Google Ads, and social media management. I’ve helped a few startups grow their online presence.

A few things I’d like to clarify:

  • Tools: Are we using any specific CRM or analytics platform? I prefer HubSpot or Google Analytics.
  • Client flow: Do I find the client, negotiate, and then hand off to you for technical specs?
  • Deadlines: Late penalties? I’m okay with strict timelines as long as communication is clear.

Also, for the website demos, Xisto’s cPanel hosting is great since it gives us free subdomains to showcase work. Let’s set up a shared folder for assets.

What’s the first project you have in mind?
