I wanted to share my experience with pink eye and antibiotics because I think a lot of people might be in a similar boat. For years, I had no issues with antibiotics, but then my body started reacting badly – rashes, and even my nails began separating from the nail beds. Not fun! Last fall, I had double pink eye and was put on two different antibiotics, but I’m not even sure they did anything. Fast forward to a week and a half ago, I got pink eye again. I was hesitant to go through another round of meds, so I looked up natural options and found a honey remedy: mix 1:1 milk and honey, heat just enough to dissolve the honey, then use 2-3 drops in the eye every 3-4 hours. I tried it, and within 24 hours, the redness was noticeably reduced and my eye felt so much better.
I’m not saying ditch antibiotics entirely, but I do think they’re overprescribed, especially for things like pink eye that can clear up on their own. Honey has natural antibacterial properties and has been used for centuries. Obviously, you need to be careful about sterility – make sure honey is raw and organic, and maybe filter it. But for me, it worked when the typical antibiotics didn’t. Would love to hear if others have tried similar natural remedies!
